Highly sought after genuine vintage AP-19 Papa Bear Chair designed by Hans Wegner in 1949 and made in Denmark in the 1950s. This chair was bought in Europe by the original owner and paired then with another Wegner design, a teak footstool also known as the Cigar Ottoman, designed in 1955. Both pieces are marked made in Denmark and posses the characteristic details only the originals have - front legs are attached by means of a wedged-through-tenon and back legs continue through the frame to support the cantilevered arms. The seat webbing passes through slots in the sides of the chair and the seatback provides extreme comfort through sets of coil springs set behind the squared upholstery. The solid teak paws/nails are beautifuly grained and the subtle yellow upholstery is in vintage shape - worn but presentable condition.
