Superb form and craftsmanship displayed in this dining table designed by George Nakashima as part of his 1958 line of furniture for Widdicomb titles 'Origins'. Unique shape is a round sided triangle with one side a drop leaf for versatility and space saving. The underside is stamped with the production date 1/59, the George Nakashima brand and a Widdicomb label. It is also marked Sundra, the name of the finish developed by George Nakashima for the East Indian Laurel wood on the table top. The legs are a beautifully organic tapering oval that attach to the underside of the table with eye catching stretchers secured with walnut pegs. These halmarks of Nakashima's craftsmanship elevate this piece from simple factory made furniture to the care of fine handmade furniture.
