This uncommon and unique headboard and nightstand set was designed in the late 1940s as part of the earliest George Nelson collection for Herman Miller. The headboard set is designed to fit two twin beds, but the three pieces are modular and can be reconfigured to fit other bed sizes. The headboards have an adjustable angle for reading and to provide comfort while upright in bed. There is also ample storage behind each headboard. The reading lights in the center nightstand still work and diffuse light beautifully. The nightstand also has a pull-out tray and a tilting drawer -- which was originally created to fit a small radio.
The set is crafted from walnut and original-era naugahyde. It is in good vintage condition with very occasional finish wear.
