Rare France and Son sofa/daybed model FD-451 designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen in the1950s. This elegant piece of mid century modern Danish design consists of a lightweight solid teak frame with inset panels of sheet cane and original loop spring support. Solid teak legs and a sculpted teak back allow this sofa to be used in any location. The sofa is in very good structural condition and the drop down sides operate smoothly with a clever release button located under the edge of each side back frame (see last photo). The cane panels are in great shape. A John Stuart medallion (the original retailer) is present on the front edge of the frame.
