Uncommon vintage oversized chair designed by Mel Smilow for his company Smilow-Thiele in the 1950s. Solid walnut frame with beautiful back details and leg joinery. The  seat has foam cushions on a metal spring support frame. Sturdy and comfortable, this piece looks good from all angles. Occasional finish wear along the back as shown in photos. Fabric has light marking and piling but very usable as is. Metal frame is stamped Smilow-Thielle.
