Long and low vintage modernist coffee table made by Showpieces in 1956. Featuring beautiful Walnut wood grain throughout, great simple modern lines and and ample top surface this vintage table makes a solid style statement. A major selling point of this range of tables was its stressed skin construction, which produces great strength with minimal weight - as a result this table weighs only 32.5lbs yet it can support surprisingly heavy loads; 980lbs combined weight in the last photo! This method was employed in airplane and box beam construction among others.
