Rare nesting tables designed by T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings for Widdicomb in the 1950s. Featuring Gibbings' signature Klismos legs inspired by classical Greek furniture, walnut inlay tops and distinct widdicomb joint details, these are a true collectors piece. Gibbings was known for his skilled blending of traditional and modern, stripping away ornate carvings in favor of celebrating a classic form and these nesting tables certainly do that. Table tops have been refinished to reveal the beautiful walnut woodgrain and make them usable as the original finish had deteriorated beyond utility. The legs have been kept original to display their time earned patina but show well with occasional dark spots. Widdicomb label and production date (3/57) underneath smaller table.
