Superb vintage bookcase in the style of Paul Frankl's iconic 'Skyscraper Furniture' of the 1920s. Frankl was a pioneer in introducing ideas of modernism to the USA. This bookcase design was a solution for storing his many large form books on Art and Architecture. With its distinctive stepped form it mirrors that of the skyscrapers that had begun to dominate the NYC skyline. With original, labeled examples of redwood and taking pride of place in international museums of art and design, this piece is a fine vintage reproduction. It is made of older lumber core plywood with a cerused oak and classic Frankl green lacquer.
