Vintage in the Zoo: Vintage Market in Kalamazoo, Michigan

For the past two years, Trystcraft has taken part in an exciting event in Kalamazoo: Vintage in the Zoo! Also known as VITZ, Vintage in the Zoo is an outdoor (but covered!) market held in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Held at the Kalamazoo Farmers Market on Bank Street, VITZ used to be held only once a year. In 2018, it will happen twice: In June and in August.

The first 2018 VITZ took place on Jun 3. Trystcraft was one of many vendors selling vintage and mid-century items. There were also plenty of great handmade crafts as well as vintage clothing, furniture and home goods. Vintage in the Zoo also showcased some great entertainment throughout the day, including live music, an awesome DJ and face-painting for the kids. To top it all off, food trucks and vendors supplied some tasty treats. (We really enjoyed the Bahn Mi salads that packed a serious punch of spicy flavor!)

Over at the Trystcraft booth, we set up a true mid-century living room. Plenty of people came over to check out the eye catching yellow sofa with cane sides and the vintage Bose 901 speakers with their unique tulip bases. We also had, some stylish Jerry Johnson sling chairs, a stunning tiki bar cabinet made by United and even some vintage candy for our youngest shoppers. (Although adults enjoyed the sweet trip down memory lane as well!)

If you're local to the area, be sure to stop by for the next Vintage in the Zoo. VITZ will take place on August 5th, 2018 from 11-4. This is absolutely a family-friendly event, so bring the kids along while you do some retro shopping.
