Mid-Century Modern Real Estate For Sale: October 5th, 2018

After a week away, we're excited to be back and showcasing some amazing mid-century modern properties currently for sale. There are true masterpieces by starchitects like E. Fay Jones (and price points to match) as well as more affordable MCM gems from across the country. Check them out!

Amazing E. Fay Jones Home in Memphis, TN - 4,300 sqft. ($1.795 Million)

Be prepared to drool at the design, condition and setting of this 1964 masterpiece by architect E. Fay Jones. Constructed with fieldstone and cypress. This house has everything: light, space, wonderful views and an endless supply of architectural 'moments'.

Skylit Ranch in Huntington Woods, MI - 1,644 sqft. ($389,900)

This 1957 architect-built home has been doing the rounds online and for good reason. With its central skylight running the length of the house it is filled with natural light. Added to this are both front and rear walls of windows. If you can look past the cluttered (albeit impressive MCM) furniture collection you'll recognize the great bones here. Being a little more selective (ie decluttering) would allow the architecture to breathe and the whole effect would improve.

Atomic Ranch in Elkhart, IN - 1,760 sqft. ($239,000)

This 1967 post and beam home has style to spare. Fantastic beams, windows, entry, wood paneling and floors. While the listing suffers from amateur photography, its quality shines through. The owners have done a great job in furnishing it with period pieces.

Flat Roof MCM in Highland Park, IL - 2,766 sqft. ($449,950)

The huge beams, clerestory glass and half height windows in this house really remind me of Richard Neutra's California homes. This 'T' plan house was designed by architects Schurecht and Sakip Altay and it has a number of separate outdoor spaces for the owner to enjoy. It could be a very cool home with the right MCM pieces.

Cedar and Brick Modern, Asheville, NC - 1,228 sqft. ($327,000)

A really nice 1960 MCM home here with plenty of great architectural features to enjoy. Love the carport, entry courtyard, fireplace and natural light throughout. Bedrooms need some help to maintain continuity and the kitchen could be given a facelift to inject some life back into it.
