Mid-Century Modern Real Estate For Sale: February 8th, 2019

Whether you're looking for a mid-century modern fixer-upper project (our personal favorite!) or a home that's ready to move into, we've got you covered this week. There are some incredible mid-century modern homes for sale all across the country. Check out the fixer-upper with wild design in Ohio and the post-and-beam beauties in Washington, Illinois, and Connecticut. If you're buried under snow right now, you might also find yourself drawn to the remodeled MCM home in Florida (and its pool!)

Wild MCM Fixer in Columbus, OH - 1,914 sqft. ($119,600)

Heaps of character in this 1964 house with its floating folded plate roof, conversation pit, multiple fireplaces, lots of glass and original lighting features. With all these original features comes plenty of work that needs to be done - including kitchen and bathrooms that will probably need to be gutted. Overall, this is a great project at a great price.

Stunning Edward Dart Home in Winnetka, IL - 2,366 sqft. ($600,000)

A really nice design here with beautiful wood panelling and ceiling, built-ins, a brick fireplace, an East-facing wall of windows, a carport under the house, a porch above and a private yard. The 1954 house looks to be in very good condition and very livable. Love the shoji.

High Style in Greenwich, CT - 2,327 sqft. ($1,100,000)

Set amongst giant boulders on a remarkable lot and featuring a waterfall pond, this is a perfect melding of house and site. Built in 1961 and designed by Robert Felton, the home has great looking front and rear facades and a light filled interior with interesting spaces. We especially love the large copper fireplace and the redwood panelling.

MCM Neighborhood Remodel in Orange Park, FL - 2,160 sqft. ($300,000)

We drive around this neighborhood nearly every time we visit family in the area and this house in particular had been abandoned for around 10 years. Probably designed by Robert Broward, (who did much of the subdivision) it was sold for 75k in June of last year and renovated. I'm glad it was saved from being a teardown but it's a shame it has such generic finishes and non-modern details such as column trim which just looks ridiculous. I'm sure their were some original features (built ins, lighting fixtures etc) that could have been salvaged and restored. The main problem is they didn't correct a roof modification that was done many years ago - it should be a very low, thin profile roofline but the entire roof was raised to build out an overhang above a patio on the south side of the home and enclose it for additional square footage. This is still a cool MCM pool home that is located in a neighborhood of other fantastic mid-century houses.

Post and beam in Port Townsend, WA. 2463 sqft. ($895,000)

This home has been on the market for a while but it deserves a second look. The private, coastal setting is stunning and the house maximizes the views and connection to the landscape. Plenty of glass and wrap around decks draw you outside and the rooms flow freely into one another. Great stone fireplace to contrast with the white panels and dark post and beam frame. Very livable!
