Kalamazoo is a wonderful city in Western Michigan, and we’re proud to call it our new home. There’s a variety of fascinating architecture, including homes by Frank Lloyd Wright and George Nelson, and there’s a thriving cultural scene. Since 2016, Trystcraft has been based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. While much of our business is done online, you can also come check out our shop/warehouse in the Park Trades Center in Downtown Kalamazoo.
Trystcraft isn’t the only mid-century modern furniture store in Kalamazoo. The city is packed with great vintage vendors and shops, and we’re proud to be included among them.
If you’re looking for an eclectic range of funky, quirky and vintage pieces, check out Pick Curated Art and Select Vintage, located right downtown on the Kalamazoo Mall. Tom & Kendra can help you find all sorts of fun mid-century and modern pieces. They post regularly on Facebook, so give their page a like to learn about their newest vintage picks.
Head over to the Vine Neighborhood of Kalamazoo, and you’ll get to Retro. This fantastic shop run by Bob & Thom has been a staple of the Kalamazoo mid-century scene since 2000. They offer estate sale management in addition to their retail store.
Kalamazoo is also home to the Heritage Company, an architectural salvage and supply shop. Next door is the Kalamazoo Antiques Market. Do double duty by checking out both at the same time, because you never know what sort of vintage items you’ll come across!
If you’re searching for vintage clothing in Kalamazoo, there are plenty of great choices. One of our favorites is J Bird Vintage in the Vine Neighborhood. Shop Maxine is also based in Kalamazoo and operates an Etsy shop featuring all sorts of fantastic vintage clothing, accessories and shoes.
If you want to check out a collection of mid century sellers in Kalamazoo at once, local markets are ideal. We occasionally participate in local events, like the recent Vintage in the Zoo. VITZ is held at the Bank Street Market Kalamazoo Farmer’s Market, and it was a great success. We were thrilled to be a part of the inaugural event, which boasted over a dozen vintage vendors as well as entertainment and food trucks.
For those serious mid-century lovers willing to drive a little further out of the city for some bargains, don’t miss the Allegan Antique Market. Held six Sundays a year between April and October, this is the ultimate place to snag discounted finds in addition to valuable designer pieces.
