Mid-Century Modern Real Estate For Sale: December 21st, 2018
Listen, it's not too late. There is still time to add one last item to your Christmas wish list. May I suggest an all-original 1958 home? Or perhaps a cute little MCM cabin in the woods? If you've been really, really good this year, Santa might even bring you the California Modern ranch for sale in Sacramento. Check them all out below!
All Original Ranch in Dundee, IL - 2,208 sqft. ($279,900)
This is a really nice modern home with large beams, beautiful tongue and groove ceiling and plenty of large windows to let in light. This 1958 house takes advantage of its almost 3 acre private wooded lot with an interesting floorplan that allows long expanses of glass and creates private corners. Love the original built ins and the pink metal kitchen cabinetry is quite a find.
1965 Post and Beam Home in Greenville, SC - 1,800 sqft. ($325,000)
This Greenville house has great presence, immediately demanding your attention with its wingspread roof, perimeter decks and carport. While I'm definitely not a fan of the new white and gray interior, it could easily be warmed up with some wood panelling and colorful furniture. Great stairs, views and convenient location.
Huge Potential in Bountiful, UT - 1,515 sqft. ($220,000)
While the listing says best offers should have been submitted on Monday the 16th, this house deserves some attention. With its massive beams, walls of windows, brick fireplace and large overhangs, this 1960 house is reminiscent of architect Richard Neutra's work. Look past the cluttered space and ill-fitting furniture and you'll see this house has great bones. I'm pretty sure the hipped roof was added over a flat roof (hence the beams). Remove that and immediately it will look more modern.
Modern Cabin in Hawley, PA - 1,388 sqft. ($199,000 "Make Me Move" Price)
We shared a near identical cabin several months ago (in NY) so it's no wonder this one caught our eye. With its soaring ceilings, natural light, wraparound deck and vintage mid-century modern furnishings, this cabin looks like a fantastic place to unwind. Private wooded lot near lake and recreation facilities - this one has it all.
Post and Beam Beauty in Sacramento, CA - 2,853 sqft. ($950,000)
It wouldn't be the holiday season without a little wishful thinking, so here's one for Santa's list. Designed by architect Dean Unger, this sprawling 1965 contemporary ranch has views of the picturesque lot from every room. Two fireplaces, wonderfully open plan, great original kitchen, deep overhangs and extremely cohesive interior make this a standout property.
