Mid-Century Modern Real Estate For Sale: March 29th, 2019
This week's mid-century modern real estate roundup includes homes in Colorado, New York, Texas, North Carolina and Connecticut. While they each offer something unique, we are most impressed by the stunning design by Tician Papachristou in Boulder. Check that out - it is truly spectacular!
Stunning Design in Boulder, CO - 1,936 sqft. ($625,000)
We love everything about this unique modern home designed by Tician Papachristou on a picturesque rocky hillside in Boulder. Wonderful spaces and details throughout from the fireplace, post and beam structure, impressive concrete columns and the central skylight. Though it was built in 1965, the house is in great shape and the design really is timeless.
Techbuilt Home in Ithaca, NY- 2,279 sqft. ($250,000)
This barn red 1956 Techbuilt home designed by Carl Koch is a great example of mid century prefab homes built throughout the country. Ample light, free flowing spaces and some nice original details such as the brick fireplace and redwood paneling make this a very livable house at a great price.
Japanese Style Courtyard Home in Houston, TX - 2,440 sqft. ($1,298,000)
I've always liked the concept of a home designed around a central courtyard and this one pulls it off really nicely. In contrast with the completely private street front facade, this 1966 home benefits from ample natural light brought in by the courtyard and the floor to ceiling windows surrounding it. Lots of nice details in keeping with the theme from shoji style panels to engawa (low porches that extend the house) and tasteful landscaping.
Light-Filled MCM in Jamestown, NC - 3,443 sqft. ($335,000)
Great post and beam design with light, privacy on 5 acres, open plan living and plenty of potential. While this 1960 home has a bit of an identity crisis in terms of furnishings, cabinetry and doors, this could be a really great home. I'd strip/repaint the beams to make them stand out more against the ceiling and make the fixtures a bit more consistent.
Joseph Salerno Home in Weston, CT - 864 sqft. ($565,000)
This is a small but very nicely designed and well proportioned house overlooking a ravine in Weston. Located at the end of a culdesac, it is very private and enjoys a lovely wooded view. High quality finishes throughout and it looks to be in excellent condition.
