Mid-Century Modern Real Estate For Sale: July 19th, 2019
If you're looking for a mid-century modern home anywhere in the United States, there are lots of great options on the market right now. This week, we're featuring California beauties including a post and beam gem and a mod A-frame. Plus, great design in Kentucky, Maryland and Texas - and one home with a price of just $93,000!
Post and Beam in Sherman Oaks, CA - 2,206 sqft. ($1,850,000)
Love the crisp modern lines of this 1959 home with its beautifully expressed post and beam frame and plenty of glass. Great inside/outside connection and cohesive interior throughout. The only downside is the $1.85M price tag!
Modern in Louisville, KY - 2,208 sqft. ($259,000)
This 1969 home has a great open plan feel with classic mid-century walls of windows, great suspended staircase, stone fireplace and many other nice features. We like the $259k price tag, too!
MCM Bargain in Bay City, TX - 1,142 sqft. ($93,000)
You can't beat an MCM home with character for less than 100k and this one from 1955 delivers. A nice Southwestern version of modern with the familiar floor to ceiling windows paired with some solid brick walls and plank doors. Retain these quirks or go full mid mod - the budget there definitely allows for flexibility.
Killer A-Frame in Mountain Center, CA - 3,200 sqft. ($799,000)
We love A-frames and this one is up there. Although this 1959 home designed by Stanley Ring has been white/gray washed the structure shines through and the setting paired with the amenities (pool, tennis court etc) are outstanding. With the LA Times Home Magazine feature on the house included in the listing as a guide, I'd love to see this restored back to its original palette of natural tongue and groove ceiling and dark beams.
Redwood Home in Bel Air, MD - 1,812 sqft. ($275,000)
This home makes the most of its wonderful wooded setting with plenty of glass to capture the views and a large deck and patio to enjoy it. Interesting split level floor plan with fantastic original round cone fireplace. Nice post and beam structure and warm wood panelling thoughout. Being sold by the original owner on .64 acres with an additional lot also available.
