Mid-Century Modern Real Estate For Sale: October 11th, 2019

This week, our featured mid-century modern homes for sale include a little bit of everything. Our favorite might just be the Cube House for sale in Michigan, but the Usonian by Frank Lloyd Wright also deserves plenty of attention. Great pics from across the Midwest and the East Coast in this week's real estate roundup.

Cube House in Plymouth, MI - 1,911 sqft. ($750,000)

Designed by architect Tivadar Balogh as his personal residence, this 1958 home is breathtakingly original. From the dramatic triple height entry to the light-filled, all original interiors, this is a modern time capsule. We love the brightly colored built-ins, floor to ceiling glass and all that beautiful redwood. We can only hope that the buyer pledges to not change a thing!

Post and Beam Home in Palatine, IL - 1,128 sqft. ($279,900)

The nice combination of wood post and beam frame, brick walls and plenty of glass make this a very livable 1955 home. We particularly like the street side facade, the fireplace, tongue and groove ceiling and the brick screen in the entry.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Toufic H. Kalil House in Manchester, NH - 1,406 sqft. ($850,000)

For what seems like a bargain price, Wright's 1955 Usonian Automatic masterpiece glows beautifully like a stone lantern - and the interiors do not disappoint. Wright's modular grid is mesmerizing, flowing effortlessly across all walls and surfaces, tying the house together in his total design vision. A true work of art.

Modern home in Pittsburgh, PA - 1,918 sqft. ($425,000)

Designed by Joel Kranich and built in 1970, this striking home embodies some key tenets of mid-century modern architecture - like the dark, modest, unassuming entry that opens into bright dynamic space filled with interesting architectural elements. Bold beams and slits of glass give a floating feeling to the roof and floor to ceiling glass brings the outside in. Love the fireplace, beams, deck and staircase.

Frank Lloyd Wright Inspired Home in Hampton, NJ - 1 bed/1.5 bath ($340,000)

Designed by Lawrence and Sharon Tarantino of Taratino Architects (the firm that restored the FLW Bachman Wilson House that was recently moved to Arkansas and rebuilt), this home is a Usonian style house with some great architectural features. We love the mahogany cladding and interior woodwork, the concrete block details and the radiant floor heating. This listing suffers from some amateur iPhone photography and we're sure it shows much better in person!
